St. Jude presents "Give thanks. Walk." The simple act of walking is something many take for granted everyday. No one knows that more than Craig and Katie Witsoe and Doug Brooks. The Witsoes’ 4-year-old son, Sean is a patient at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, suffering from medulloblastoma, a pediatric brain tumor that left him without the ability to walk. After several surgeries to remove the tumor and intensive treatments, Sean can now take those steps that his parents never thought they would see again.
Doug Brooks, president and CEO of Brinker International (Chili’s® Grill & Bar, On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina®, Maggiano’s Little Italy®) also cherishes the ability to walk again, after a car hit him while running, leaving him with an amputated left leg. Through the help of a prosthetic leg, Doug can return to his normal and active lifestyle.

The program will feature soprano Regina Walter, voice adjunct professor, in collaboration with pianist, Rosemarie Kutchuk, clarinettist Rick Smiley and guitarist Jim Eger. The evening’s program was inspired by the song “Si mes vers avaient des ailes” (If my verses had wings), by Reynaldo Hahn. Two other prominent examples of composers who have set to music poetry calling on nature as messenger are Felix Mendelssohn, "Auf Flügeln des Gesanges" (On wings of song), and Franz Schubert, "Ständchen," whose opening words are translated “Softly fly my songs through the night to you.” The program will also include some of the most beloved songs and arias by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Antonin Dvorak, Johann Strauss, Puccini, and Charpentier. The event is open to people of all ages. | North Lake College Performance Hall 5001 N. MacArthur Blvd.

Emotionally riveting and profoundly moving, Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult, brings us into the heart of a family bound by an incredible burden, a desperate will to keep their ties from breaking, and a powerful capacity for love. This book has touched my heart and has made me stop to think – what would I do? Once again, we will prepare a great meal together (hands-on), before sitting down to enjoy and discussing. The menu will be taken from the great desserts by one of our characters in the book, Charlotte O'Keefe, Pastry Chef great ideas for the holidays. Sign up early, class space is limited.

The Gifts of the Magi Don't miss PFAMILY ARTS holiday celebration in their new theatre with THE GIFTS OF THE MAGI. A heart-warming, captivating musical treat, drawn from two short stories by the immortal O. Henry. The work is warmed by sentiment and humor, filled with lilting songs, and certain to please audiences of all ages.
It is Christmas in New York, but for two young lovers, Jim and Della, the prospects are bleak, as both are out of work and penniless. But as those familiar with the famous O. Henry story are aware, their dilemma is solved when both part with their most precious possessions (she her beautiful long hair, he his heirloom pocket watch) in order to buy presents for each other thereby creating, at least for a magical moment, an aura of warmth and giving in the cold, impersonal winter city. | PFAMily Arts Theatre 4017 Preston Rd. #544 Lakeside Market

A CHRISTMAS STORY THEATRE COPPELL Presents:
A CHRISTMAS STORY – by Jean Shepherd. Adapted by Philip Grecian.
Nine-year-old Ralphie Parker wants a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. He pleads his case before his mother, his teacher, and even Santa Claus himself, but the consistent response is, “You’ll shoot your eye out!” All the nostalgic elements of the popular movie are here: the exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys’ experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin & Ralphie’s father winning a lamp shaped like a woman’s leg. Truly a holiday classic!
Performances are December 4th thru 20th at 8:00 p.m. Fridays & Saturdays, with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. There will also be one special matinee performance on Saturday, December 19th at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $14 ($12 for seniors & students) & may be purchased online at www.TheatreCoppell.com or by calling the box office at (972) 745-7719. | Theatre Coppell 157 Moore Rd.

Jazz Vespers with Neeki Bey Sunday, December 6 at 6 p.m.
Popular local musician Neeki Bey will lead a special Vespers service built around music coming from within the jazz and blues traditions. The Jazz Vespers Service is itself a synthesis of several traditions, each finding a unifying voice through the unique musical heritage called jazz. Jazz music emerges as a balm that has the power to heal and inspire, capturing the hope of reconciliation. Jazz reminds us who we are and where we have come from, while inspiring us into the reality of who we can become in the Risen Christ. Jazz is the music of the social gospel of Jesus Christ. A time of community will be offered before and after the service; coffee, other beverages and snacks will be served. | Cathedral of Hope UCC 5910 Cedar Springs Rd.
