My daughter is a 2006 graduate of Poteet HS of and she needs your help.
She is on the waiting list for a heart transplant and her family and friends are asking for community support to help raise money for this very costly surgery. We can't do it alone
We are having a benefit in her honor from 12-3 on Nov 22nd at Poteet HS. The Mesquite fire department is bringing their fire truck, ambulance and is going to be serving a BBQ lunch. The police will be there with a car for kids to see.
There will also be a silent auction and raffles with items from places like The Mansion on Turtle Creek, Up Town Grill, Dallas Mavs and Stars, Concert tickets and much much more.

Mark your calendars for the next free Bancroft Family Concert on November 22 featuring highlights from Handel's moving oratorio, [i]Saul[/i]. Conducted by the Dallas Opera Music Director, Maestro Graeme Jenkins, the performance will be held in Horchow Auditorium at the DMA. The doors open at 2:30pm for a 3:00pm concert. Maestro Jenkins will lead twelve musicians through selections of Handel's musical interpretations of the biblical story of Saul, David, and Jonathan. In this 6-week course, we will explore and practice the stress reduction methodologies developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, founding director of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. American Smooth Competition Class for Amateur

United Commercial Realty's 20th Anniversary:
A view of the retail environment through the lenses of photography students from Dallas’ Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts is now on exhibit at the Old Red Museum of Dallas County History & Culture through December 31. The exhibit is titled, United Commercial Realty’s 20th Anniversary: Images of the Retail Environment.
To commemorate its anniversary milestone, United Commercial Realty presented a real-life work assignment to the students – and the result was so pleasing that UCR wanted to share the students’ talent and spectacular images with museum patrons.

Transfiguration Choir
This adult choir rehearses on Wednesdays and divides in two to sing either the 9:00am or the 11:15am services. The choir provides music for the two principal Sunday Services and Holy Day Liturgies, and sings several Choral Evensong services and Concerts. Singers should have a good voice for choral singing, be able to read music, and have previous musical experience. An informal audition is required. Directed by Joel Martinson.

Medical Methodologies for Stress Reduction
In this 6-week course, we will explore and practice the stress reduction methodologies developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, founding director of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Festival of Trees
Reading & Radio Resource (formerly North Texas Taping for the Blind & Dyslexic) will host a Festival of Trees Auction on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Marie Gabrielle Gardens. The Festival of Tress will be in conjunction with the Harwood International tree-lighting ceremony. The event is sponsored by Sterling Bank and Harwood International.

The Armstrong Bradfield Preschool Association invites you to the tenth annual “Homes for the Holidays” Home Tour. Kick off the holidays by taking a tour of four architecturally diverse homes on Friday December 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Homes on the tour include a Tudor mansion on Mockingbird, a Modern home on Miramar, a French-inspired home on Edmondson and a California Eclectic on Maplewood. 35th Annual Holiday Tour of Homes
It will begin to look a lot like Christmas in McKinney on December 6 and 7 for the 35th Annual Holiday Tour of Homes! The tour will include five residences and the Johnson House at Chestnut Square Historic Village decorated as a Victorian Doll House.
“The Holiday Tour of Homes is our key fundraiser for The Heritage Guild of Collin County and it’s also a way we can continue to meet our mission of preserving and perpetuating the heritage of Collin County,” Cindy Johnson, Executive Director of the Heritage Guild stated. “When people see the beauty of these homes and learn about their history they appreciate McKinney’s rich heritage even more. Last year’s tour drew over 1,500 visitors and raised $20,000 for Chestnut Square Historic Village.”

Dog Adoption in Garland Saturday
The Garland Bark Park Advocacy Group will be holding a dog adoption
event in partnership with the Garland Abe J. Tuggle Animal Shelter on
Saturday, December 13, 2008, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Oak Park
School. The school is located at 2402 Firewheel Pkwy between Pleasant
Valley Rd and Centerville Rd.
Various ages and breeds of dog from the Garland Animal Shelter will be
available for adoption. Unsterilized animals may be adopted for only
$80, which includes the first round of vaccinations and sterilization
by the City Veterinarian. Animals that have been previously sterilized
can be adopted for only $35.
The Garland Bark Park Advocacy Group is an event planning and

The Snowflake Ball a Daughter-Dad Dance

The School of Arts & Humanities at the University of Texas at Dallas presents the 32nd Annual Holiday Sing, the University’s oldest cultural tradition, at 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13, in the University Theatre. This year's theme, “An International Christmas,” blends readings and carols from many lands, including Russia, England, France, Spain, Poland and Africa. Prints and Drawings by Timothy High
Distinguished printmaker, Timothy High, exhibits prints and drawings from his ‘Vanity Fair’ collection at the Brookhaven College School of the Arts Forum Gallery. High’s ‘Vanity Fair’ series concentrates on the foibles of human nature as manifested in the individual and throughout contemporary society as a whole.
Timothy High earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Texas Tech University and the Master of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Among the most distinguished artists working in screenprinting in the country, High inaugurated screenprinting in The University of Texas at Austin Art Department in 1976. High is the recipient of several grants and fellowships including a Ford Foundation Travel Enrichment Grant in 1978 and an Individual Artists Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1989.
