Variety Show/Soap Opera at GHUMC
Greenland Hills United Methodist Church presents an exciting Variety Show and Soap Opera on September 7 at 1:30 pm. An Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social will follow. The program is free and open to the public.
The program will include a choir performance and individual acts. We look forward to music from Jason Solis, who will be singing "O Del Mio Amato Ben" by Stafan Donaudy. Laura Tudor will be singing "On My Own" from Les Miserables. Other pieces include Stephen Houpt playing the blues on his harmonica and a fun gospel piece by the GH Four. Scheduled soloists include James Devenport, Sandy Hitz and Gary Coffman. There will also be some sing-along songs for those who want to clear their vocal chords with a little Irish flair.
Some of the Soap Opera characters include Dirty Dan Dinglethorpe, Prell Pureheart,Sudsly Doorite, and Olive Tegrin. You won’t want to miss this one. Be prepared to "Boo" and "Cheer" as your part of the show | Greenland Hills UMC

The Hogwallow Boys in Concert at Round Grove
The community is invited to attend The Hogwallow Boys concert on Sunday, September 7th at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Round Grove United Church, U.C.C. The church is located at 249 East Round Grove Road in Lewisville. Ticket prices are: $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for children/students, $30 for a family/household maximum, and children three (3) and under are free. Those attending the concert are invited to bring canned goods for food pantry of Christian Community Action in Lewisville. Each donated canned good will be worth one raffle ticket for a chance to win a free Hogwallow Boys CD.

Cross Timbers Youth Orchestra Auditions

Painting Classes
ART CLASSES BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 8TH.
Connie Erickson, nationally known portrait artist, will be offering a series of six 6 hour painting classes in her studio in Freedom Park in Stonebridge Ranch Mckinney
She will be teaching how to draw and paint the visual impression, stressing the fundamentals of traditional art and working on still life and portrait/figure subjects in oil or pastel. Her classes are for adults and serious young people. The fee for the six week session is $400 . The classes will meet on Mondays beginning September 8th from 9:00AM - 12:00 lunch for an hour and continue from 1:00 - 3:00 PM.
This format allows students time to get concentrated work done.

Heroes for Children 5k Race/Walk September 13
The 4th annual Heroes for Children 5K Run/Walk, presented by WFAA, will be held on Saturday, September 13th at The Shops at Legacy in Plano, TX.
The 5K Race/Walk will take place on Saturday morning, September 13th with registration beginning at 6:30 a.m. The 1mile Family Fun Run will begin at 7:45 a.m., and the 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8:15 a.m.
Plano Mayor Pat Evans will serve as Honorary Chair of the event and declare September 13th as Childhood Cancer Awareness Day in the city of Plano. Steve Stoler of WFAA will be the emcee the event again this year.
Eddie Coker, the award winning children’s entertainer will perform, and there will be bounce houses, and other fun activities for the family.

I'll Step Up My Game For Michael
Dear Friends and Community: Over the holiday weekend there was a tragedy among our community and I am hoping to tell you the story so we can get the word out to as many people as possible to help a Mesquite family in desperate need. Early Sunday morning there was an auto accident involving three teenagers traveling back to college. Two walked away but one was not as fortunate. Michael Delgado, 17 years old, from Mesquite had to be freed from the car by using "jaws of life" and care-flighted to the nearest hospital, Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. After undergoing 10 hours of surgery his parents were given the devastating news that he would never walk again. His injuries from this accident were so severe it has left him paralyzed from the waist down. He faces more surgeries and rehabilitation. Michael was featured in the Mesquite News last year for his college signing to play soccer at Howard Payne University. He was a varsity soccer player | Eastfield Soccer Complex

There is no upper age limit for donating. Most medications will not prevent a person from donating.
Even diabetics can donate as long as their diabetes is under control, either through diet or medication.
A person who has had an ear or body piercing done in a doctor’s office or with a sterile, single-use piercing gun will be eligible to donate after one week. A person who has received a tattoo at a licensed Texas facility will be eligible to donate after one week. A person who has received an ear or body piercing or tattoo using other methods is asked to wait one year before donating. If you have had breast cancer and been diagnosed by your doctor as cancer free for 5 years and have completed all cancer related treatment. Oh My Godard Gallery is hosting a Family Day Event at The Shops at Willow Bend Mall in association with the “Dr. Seuss for President” art exhibit at the gallery. The Family Day Event is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, 2 – 4 p.m. in the center court of The Shops at Willow Bend Mall in Plano.
