Sounds of Lewisville Summer Concert Series
Eight top regional acts have been scheduled for the “Sounds of Lewisville” Summer Concert Series, presented for the 19th consecutive year by the City of Lewisville.

These are specters that the government props up as legitimate reasons to pre-emptively invade another country. However, there is one big difference between the illegitimate war of this generation, and the former illegal war: THE DRAFT.
How has the military avoided a draft? One way is by the privatization of the military. Companies like Blackwater are legalized paramilitary troops - killers for hire. And why join the army when you can make beaucoup bucks with private corporations - with more benefits and less oversight?
Jeremy Scahill investigates these and other issues in his book, "Blackwater: The Rise of the World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army." The Dallas Peace Center is hosting a talk and booksigning with the author later this month. | Half Price Books

"Tranquility" chronicles five artists who create artwork as a path to their memory and life and as a way to seek serenity.
Ron Hall, a local art dealer, ranch cowboy and co-author of "Same Kind of Different As Me" began creating mixed media sculpture as a way to combat insomnia induced from the death of his wife, Debbie. He labored through all types of mediums – card board, post it notes, straight pins, and paper clips -- as a means to create a replacement for the loss. Ancient Egyptian Religion and Mythology (Publ
Dr. Nancy Remp Smith will offer a lecture to the public on “Ancient Egyptian Religion and Mythology,” drawn from her extensive research on the subject, on Thursday, June 26, 2008, at 7 PM in the Dulaney Room of the Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library.
She will discuss the rapid development of ancient Egyptian culture, the history of Egyptian religion as compared to other world religions, the meanings of mummies and pyramids, and sacred cats and crocodiles.
Nancy Remp Smith holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Religion from Southern Methodist University and has taught World Religions, History of Religions, Ethics, and Contemporary Religious Problems at Brookhaven College and the Collin County Community College District. An entertaining and engaging speaker, she has also lectured at area churches and cultural organizations, including a recent talk at McKinney Public Library on the culture and religion of the Vikings.

Duck Creek Independence Day Parade June 28th
PARADE JUNE 28TH 9:30AM! Are your kids ready to march in a parade? Get out your American flags, red-white-and-blue apparel, decorate your bicycles and wagons, and head out to the Duck Creek neighborhood for its 5th annual Independence Day Parade on Saturday, June 28th, at 9:30am.
All Richardson residents, families, and friends are invited to participate in the parade or be a spectator from the comfort of your own lawn chair. All participants should report at 9:30am to the parade formation area at the intersection of Syracuse Drive and North St. Johns Drive, behind Huffines Recreation Center. The parade will begin at 10:30am.
If you wish to watch the parade, feel free to park near (but not on) the parade route shown in the picture below. Then bring a lawn chair, picnic blanket, and ice chest, and enjoy the hour-long parade which has become an annual tradition of the Duck Creek neighborhood.

Labyrinth Walk
The Labyrinth Ministry of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration will host an open labyrinth walk on Sunday, June 29, from 2-5 p.m. The public is invited to come between these hours for a time of reflection and meditation. The church is located at 14115 Hillcrest Road (at the Spring Valley intersection) in Dallas. The labyrinth is located inside the church, adjacent to the sanctuary.
The Fig Labyrinth Ministry hosts a themed walk every fifth Sunday; June’s topic is “Taking Stock.” Handouts with questions to consider on this focus, as well as general handouts about using the labyrinth as a spiritual tool, will be available. Organic in the City is an urban environmental education and entertainment series at Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park. The program is geared toward urbanites near Downtown Dallas and surrounding areas who crave a little more ‘green’ in their lives.

Eight top regional acts have been scheduled for the “Sounds of Lewisville” Summer Concert Series, presented for the 19th consecutive year by the City of Lewisville.

The Crape Myrtle Trails 'Tour the Trails'
The Crape Myrtle Trails Foundation presents the first annual ‘Tour the Trails’ event in conjunction with McKinney’s Red, White and Boom Celebration on July 4th! This is the inaugural and historic event for The Crape Myrtle Trails of McKinney and the City of McKinney is a dream-come-true for many involved with the organization to host actual coach-bus tours of the beautiful streets of McKinney to see the diverse varieties of crape myrtles planted in McKinney at the peak bloom-time.
The first inaugural coach-bus will depart at 12:00pm from Heard-Craig Hall and will feature a personally guided tour by Neil Sperry of, Neil Sperry’s Texas Gardening show, with subsequent tours guided by Collin County Master Gardeners and will depart at 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00pm.

Frisco Freedom Fest

Sounds of Lewisville Summer Concert Series
Eight top regional acts have been scheduled for the “Sounds of Lewisville” Summer Concert Series, presented for the 19th consecutive year by the City of Lewisville.
The free concerts will be held on Tuesday nights, from June 3 through July 22, starting at 7:00 p.m. This year’s series is moving to Old Town Lewisville, adjacent to Lewisville City Hall. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs. Alcohol is prohibited at the concert series.

Jesus Christ Superstar
Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's groundbreaking rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar changed the face of musical theater when it debuted on Broadway in 1971. Chronicling the last seven days in the life of Jesus Christ, Superstar dramatizes Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, the unrest caused by his preaching and popularity, his betrayal by Judas, the trial before Pontius Pilate and his ultimate crucifixion. It features such well-known songs as I Don’t Know How To Love Him, Gethsemane and Superstar.

The Music Man” brings its big parade to McKinney Summer Musicals’ 2008 production with this popular family musical by Meredith Willson. Cedar Hill, Texas – Uptown Village at Cedar Hill will host a seven-week summer concert series, titled “JAM to Give,” that will benefit nonprofit organizations in the Cedar Hill community. The concerts, sponsored by Texas Music Project (TMP) which supports music education in Texas schools, are free to the public and will be held at the Village Green every Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the weeks of July 11 through Aug. 22.
During each concert, Uptown Village will present a $500 check to a different local nonprofit organization. Local Family Blood Drive
I would like to ask for the community's help in donating blood for a local family who has experienced significant accidents over the last few weeks. One member was involved in a farm tractor accident where the tractor flipped on top of him, the other was involved in a motorcycle accident for which she was seriously injured and may never be able to walk the same again. He is still in ICU at a local hospital on a vent. but awake and improving everyday. She is home now in external fixators on her leg and must have someone with her at all times. We are asking for your kindness and help us raise blood donations to help replenish what Carter Bloodcare was so generous to give us in our time of need so that we may help other families in need as ours was. Sounds of Lewisville Summer Concert Series
Eight top regional acts have been scheduled for the “Sounds of Lewisville” Summer Concert Series, presented for the 19th consecutive year by the City of Lewisville.

Men's Health Night
The staff of Parkland’s Irving Health Center will host a Men’s Health Night on Thursday, July 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. The event, which is available by appointment only, will take place at the clinic at 1800 N. Britain Road in Irving.
In addition to extended clinic hours, the night will provide men with vital health information via educational seminars. Physicians will also offer shared medical appointments. In these appointments, multiple patients with common conditions are seen as a group by a physician and a social worker. This successful program allows patients to receive more time with providers and also learn from advice the physician provides to others.

Longhorn Bingo Helps Local Cat Rescue Groups
Bring the family on Monday, July 21st to Longhorn BINGO’s Family Night. Children eight and older are encouraged to play BINGO and there is a separate non-smoking area with its own entrance and bathroom. Longhorn BINGO will have two sessions, at 7:30 and 9:00pm.
