Neil Young's Greendale
The live band for Undermain’s upcoming production of Neil Young’s Greendale will be composed of legendary musicians of the Deep Ellum music scene. Leading the way as Music Director and lead guitarist is Kenny Withrow of New Bohemians. Paul Semrad of Course of Empire will perform on bass guitar. Joining the band on drums is two time Grammy award winner Alan Emert, of Brave Combo fame.
Undermain Theatre, through special arrangement with Wixen Music Publishing, is pleased to announce the theatrical premiere of Neil Young’s Greendale. The rock opera by the legendary singer - songwriter will be adapted for the stage by Undermain Theatre on March 29-May 3, 2008. Relay For Life Paint The Town Purple Rally
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life (RFL) McKinney will paint McKinney purple with a rally on March 29 at 11:30 a.m. on the north steps of the McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Tennessee Street, in Historic Downtown McKinney. The rally is free and open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to wear purple.
“Purple is the official color of Relay For Life, and through Relay, you experience something called ‘The Power of Purple,’” said RFL McKinney Co-Chair Sharon Laird. “You see lives changed when you invite others to join Relay for the first time, know the sense of victory when someone who has battled cancer walks their first Survivor Lap and never forget the emotion of placing a luminaria bag for someone you love.”

Robin Hackett Live at Sammon Center for the A
Robin Hackett, a local singer/songwriter, will perform an evening of original music and jazz standards on Wednesday, April 2 at the Sammon Center for the Arts in Dallas from 7-10 p.m. Robin Hackett is an accomplished musician and vocalist. She is a transplant from New York City but has made DFW her home for the last five years. Her music has been featured on the CBS hit comedy “How I Met Your Mother” and she was a guest artist on KDFW Fox 4 Good Day. She has been featured in popular magazines and her music topped the Billboard Internet charts alongside K.D. Lang, and Emmy Lou Harris.

Henrietta the Eighth
The Theatre Department of Jasper High School is presenting Henrietta the Eighth on Thursday, April 3rd, Friday, April 4th, and Saturday, April 5th. This romantic comedy is set in the 1940s and presents a talented cast of students directed by Ms. Renee Harris. The show is choreographed by Stephanie Epstein.
Ms. Harris is the Director of Jasper High School’s Theatre Department. She teaches Theater I and II as well as Technical Theater. She has produced and directed a number of outstanding theater productions during her ten years at Jasper High School.
The show begins at 7:30 each evening at Jasper High School – 6800 Archgate Drive (off Legacy Road, between Coit and Ohio).

On Saturday, April 5th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., U.S. Congressman Sam Johnson (3rd Dist.-Texas) will host the Second Annual Congressional Art Competition Art Exhibit in the Gallery of the McKinney Performing Arts Center. The free event is open to the public and the press.
All of the artwork featured will be pieces submitted for the 2008 competition, An Artistic Discovery, by area high school students. An awards presentation for the winners will take place during the exhibit around 7:30 p.m. Those in attendance will have an opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award.

Helps adults become productive members of the community by building literacy skills and self-esteem. LFL provides free and confidential one-on-one tutoring. Serves non-readers, poor readers, and those who have immigrated from other countries and are struggling to read, write, and comprehend English. Tutoring sessions are held at all Plano libraries.
Tutors: Must be adult who has completed high school and has a good command of the English language. Must attend tutor training workshop (6 hrs, $20 donation) and provide a 6-month commitment. A sense of humor and patience are helpful!
