HALLOWEEN HAPPENINGS
Big Boo Bash in Rowlett
Enjoy the Big Boo Bash from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23 at Rowlett Community Centre, 5300 Main St. Wear costumes and bring the family to enjoy this safe and fun Halloween event. Activities include a bounce house, carnival games, cookie decorating and a Haunted Hallway. Tickets are $5.
Trick or Treat on Main in Royse City
Dress up and enjoy face painting, games, a bounce house, popcorn, cotton candy, tricks and treats from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28 on Main Street in RoyseCity. Festivities are hosted by merchants, businesses and local organizations.
Scare on the Square in Rockwall
Don’t miss Halloween fun from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 in downtown Rockwall. Trick-or-treat at downtown shops and enjoy hayrides and face painting.
Haunted maze at Rowlett Martial Arts
Rowlett Martial Arts Center, 2212 Lakeview Parkway, will host a haunted maze from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, and from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. Admission is $7 the first time; $5 if you’re brave enough to do it again. At the end of the frightful journey, enjoy treats, drinks and door prizes.
Story time, family fun at Pumpkin Patch
Saturday’s at the Pumpkin Patch in Rockwall are devoted to children’s programs. Enjoy story time at 11 a.m., crafts and face painting from noon to 4 p.m., and a Rockwall Fire Department display and a hay maze. The Pumpkin Patch, located in the RidgeRoadShopping Center, is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Saturday, Oct. 31.
Halloween at The Harbor
Enjoy a Halloween extravaganza from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 at The Harbor amphitheatre. There will free entertainment, carnival games, face painting and a costume contest.
Carnival, hayride at Dobbs
Dobbs Elementary, 101 S. Clark St., will host a fall family carnival from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24. There will be pony rides, a dunking booth, giant slide, hayride and more. Enjoy nachos, hot dogs, popcorn and candy, too. Open to Dobbs families and residents of the Rockwall community.
Cake walk, auction at Shannon
The Shannon Elementary Fall Carnival, sponsored by the PTA, will be 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 at the school, 3130 Fontanna Blvd. in Rockwall. There will be a silent auction, DJ, cake walk and games. Proceeds help support the work the Shannon PTA does for the school.
Howl-o-ween for pets, owners
Dogs and their owners are invited to Sassy’s Bark and Bath, 8301 Lakeview Parkway in Rowlett, from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 for a party benefiting Rowlett Animal Shelter. There will be door prizes, canine costume contest, and beer and wine for pet owners. The event is free, but donations for the shelter are appreciated.
Trick-or-treat at Rowlett library
Stop by the Rowlett Public Library between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 to receive a Halloween treat.
Crafts show at Rockwall High
Rockwall High School PTA will host its Fall and Holiday Arts and Crafts Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. Admission is $1. Enjoy tempting treats and treasures, including handcrafted home décor and holiday gifts.
Fall bazaar at Summer Ridge
Summer Ridge Assistant Living, 3020 Ridge Road in Rockwall, will host its 4th annual Fall Bazaar featuring local vendors and festive decorations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23.
Walk-a-thon at Nebbie Williams
Nebbie Williams Elementary will host a walk-a-thon fundraiser with a day dedicated to camaraderie and school spirit. Events kick off at 8:45 a.m. with a student-led parade featuring the Rockwall High Stingerettes, boys’ basketball team and drum line. CHURCH FESTIVALS
Cook-off, costumes at First Presbyterian
First Presbyterian Church of Rockwall, 602 White Hills Drive, will host its annual Fall Festival from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25. There will be a games, prizes, costume contest, chili cook-off and a contest for the best chocolate dessert. Cost is $5 each or $20 per family, which includes game tokens, dinner and dessert.
Lord’s Acre bazaar returns to Royse City
Royse City First United Methodist Church will host the 36th annual Lord’s Acre Fall Bazaar beginning at noon Saturday, Nov. 14, at Royse City Middle School, 1310 E. Highway 66. Enjoy music by the Greenville-based Christian band, THEOS, and the church’s youth band. Purchase lunch, shop vendor booths and the Country Store, and see local dance performances. The Royse City Fire Department will have a fire truck available for inspection. RoyseCity police will conduct children’s fingerprinting. Purchase tickets to the barbecue dinner and enjoy a dog show. Proceeds benefit the church’s mission projects and help maintain the historic sanctuary. For more information, call 972-636-2291.
Crafts, business expo at FUMC-Rowlett
Join First United Methodist Church-Rowlett Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24-25, for a fall festival featuring baked goods in the Country Store, delicious food in the Cafe, a children’s carnival and shopping at the Craft Vendors Business Expo. The Country Store and Business Expo will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; the Café from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and the carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Carnival, pony rides at Lake Pointe Church
Lake Pointe Church, 701 E. Interstate 30 in Rockwall, will host its annual Fall Family Festival from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in the church’s parking lot and Pier 4:19 Student Center. The evening includes bounce houses, carnival rides, pony rides, petting zoo, special toddler play area, silent auction, music and food. Costumes welcome. The cost is $5 for children ages 2-17. Children younger than 2 are free.
Trunk-or-Treat at Our Savior Lutheran
Our SaviorLutheranChurch, 3003 Horizon Roadin Rockwall, will host a Fall Festival and Trunk-or-Treat event from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. Families will enjoy food, fun and games. No costumes necessary.
FUMC-Heath to host silent, live auction
First UnitedMethodistChurch of Heath, 140 Smirl Drive, will host a Fall Bazaar from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. Discover unique craft items for sale and take part in alive and silentauction. Sweet rolls and coffee will be served in the morning, followed by a fish fry at noon. Proceeds go to mission work.
’Tis the Season for UMW bazaar
The United Methodist Women will host the annual ’Tis the Season Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 7 at First United Methodist Church, 1200 E. Yellow Jacket Lane in Rockwall. There will be handmade crafts and home décor, as well as baked goods and baking pecans. The Café will offer tasty, prepared items. All proceeds go to mission work of the UMW.
