Thomas Simpson, a 2007 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High, performed at the school with the Princeton Tigertones on Monday.
Simpson credits his musical and educational background at Woodrow with his selection to the exclusive male acapella glee club at the Ivy League university. He was a member of Variations Show Choir and performed in Woodrow's famed Broadway musical productions, including the 50th show "Fiddler on the Roof" his senior year. Another member of that cast, Matthew George, is making waves at Yale University Drama School.
On the Woodrow stage, Simpson was lead singer for "My Girl" and a rousing rendition of "Loch Lomond". Thunderous applause followed for Woodrow's favorite son.
Simpson is enjoying entertaining the singers and introducing them to Texas. His family entertained the group at their home near White Rock Lake and they also enjoyed Tex-Mex food at a local restaurant. Their next culinary quest will be barbeque in Taylor, Texas.
Monday's show featured two dance troupes from Woodrow as well as the Variations and Counterpoint Show Choir - the junior version of the Variations.
Desserts were served and several prizes raffled. A large crowd raised significant money for the famed Fine Arts program at Woodrow.
