New Park Music Festival features Coppell youth bands in summer kick-off celebration

Coppell’s new park behind Town Center and blue skies provided the perfect backdrop for the city’s teenagers to celebrate the end of school June 4 at the New Park Music Festival.

Several hundred teenagers and residents filled the Coppell Plaza to listen to several of Coppell’s youth bands, celebrate the end of the school year and utilize a city park that has only been used for city-sponsored activities in its short life.

The festival, organized by YoungLife, featured eight Coppell youth bands in a city that is known throughout the country for its outstanding music programs.

Several of the band students who helped the Coppell High School Band gain worldwide recognition were on hand to share their talents through a bit more relaxed outlet in their own rock bands.

The evening featured Leah Gray, Mocha Jama, For the Record, The Afterparty, Zootime Politics, Glenn and Blake, Clayton Fike and Blake and Kate.

While the concert was free, donations were collected for the Water Is Basic project, which raises money to build clean water wells in Africa.

YoungLife is a locally-supported, globally-administered non-profit Christian outreach organization that focuses on high school students not already connected with a local church.
