Cole Glasson's Season Ends with Injury

Cole Glasson and his team traveled to Houston this weekend for the final Southwest Regional Cup Race of the year. This is a regional series with the best drivers from Texas and Oklahoma competing for the top spot. Cole entered the weekend with a 35 point series lead over the next driver. He was going to compete in two classes this weekend, his Tag Cadet kart as well as his Mini Max kart.

By mid day in Friday’s practice session, Cole had the fastest lap times of all the competitors in both classes. In his next to last practice in the Mini Max, he was in the back straight away and was clipped from behind by a Rotax Masters driver sending him into the barrier at a high speed (approximately 70 miles per hour). Luckily he only sustained a broken arm in two places and a hurtful pride of losing the championship. As we await the final points posting, it looks like he still finished second in the series. He is looking forward to healing and starting the 2009 season in Daytona in late December. Please follow the season by clicking on the Schedule for 2009 on his website at www.coleglasson.com as he contends to be one of the best in the nation next year. He will be racing Stars of Karting, World Karting Association, and RMAX series which are all nationally ranked series.

Cole is sponsored by Frozen Fire Films www.frozenfirefilms.com and Kart Racing Solutions www.kartracingsolutions.com . He has a full time driving coach and tuner, DJ Ortiz, who continues to develop Cole and his racing style.
